Care Guide for Silver Jewelry

Take good care of your silver jewelry

Maanestens silver jewelry is made from recycled sterling silver (925) and often combined with precious stones – natural materials that remain beautiful with a little care.

  • Start the day right

Put on jewelry last – after showering, applying cream, perfume and hair products. Chemicals can oxidise silver and cause gemstones to fade.

  • Avoid exercising while wearing jewelry

Movement, impact and sweat can cause scratches, minor damage and dark shadows on the silver.

  • On holiday – bear with consideration

Sunscreen, oils, chlorine and salt water can discolour silver and damage certain gemstones, especially pearls, opals and corals. Sand can scratch and dull the surface, so give your jewelry a break.

  • Be careful when cleaning

Wear gloves or remove jewelry. Cleaning agents and soap can discolour and dull both metal and stones.

  • Clean gently

Polish with a silver cloth or place the jewelry in lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid for 5-10 minutes. Brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

  • Always store your jewelry separately

Keep jewelry in separate boxes or bags to avoid scratches.

  • Give your jewelry a break at night

Remove your jewelry when you sleep. This reduces wear and tear and allows your skin to breathe.
